born 1962 in Saarlouis, Mr Scharff grew up in a very musical family. At the age of 6 he while playing the violin, he discovered his love for this instrument, the joy of the fascinating sound and the aesthetic charisma of the instrument. This later led to the desire to make the best string instruments himself.

He completed his training in his father's violin making atelier in Mannheim and with his teachers Peter Erben and Stephan Gaes in Munich in 1995 with the master's examination.

He gained an essential insight into the "philosophy of violin making" at subsequent workshops by Jürgen von Stietencron in Italy, by HK Schmidt in Dresden and Francois Perego, Mittenwald.

His violins were awarded prizes at exhibitions amongst others, as part of the Jacob Stainer Competition.

Since the beginning, his work has included constant intensive research and research to improve the tonal and optical properties of his instruments.
